How it works

From “I should figure that out” to a real plan

VotePrep turns 51 rulebooks into one personal timeline — in about a minute.

  1. Answer three quick questions

Which state you vote in, whether you're registered there, and how you'd like to vote (by mail, early, or on Election Day). That's the whole interview — no name, no street address, no email, no phone.

  2. Get your deadline timeline

We keep a researched rulebook for all 50 states and DC: registration deadlines (online, mail, and in person), mail-ballot request and return rules, same-day registration, and every 2026 statewide election date. Your answers pick the rules that apply, and they become one clear, dated timeline with live countdowns.

  3. Send every deadline to your calendar

One tap downloads a calendar file with all your dates — each with reminders a week before and the day before. It works with Apple, Google, Outlook, and anything else that speaks calendar. Prefer links? There's a Google Calendar option too. You can also print your plan or share it.

  4. Finish each step on your state's official site

We never imitate government forms or collect your information to "submit it for you." Every action — registering, checking your status, requesting a ballot — happens on your state's own website, through the direct links in your plan. You always end up at the source of truth.

One honest caveat

Making a plan here is not the same as registering to vote or requesting a ballot — those only count when you complete them with your state. Our job is making sure you know exactly what to do and never miss the window to do it.
